Letting go

Let go

Hi there! I am so excited that you found me!
You are about to read my very first blog post about me discovering my true creative voice and the inspiration of making art.

Ever since I started seriously painting for about a year ago, a door in my heart opened and I discovered how much joy and insights painting gives me. It’s like self-discovery and self-development and even self-healing all in once. And I just love it! I love the analyzing, mirroring, symbols and metafors of the painting process and I would like to share my journey with you!

But let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I am born and raised in The Netherlands, between the flower fields, and I have always loved to create, just make stuff, invent stuff, make others happy with personal self made presents. It always was a hobby, I never thought one, or more specifically, that I could earn money with being creative.

We moved to Sweden because of my husband who found a job here and I continued with my hobby, got two wonderful children and I work as a mindfulness and kids yoga teacher.

Then we went to Australia last year. This 3-month adventure turned out to have a huge impact on my life, on my way of thinking, my way of creating.
In Australia (Townsville, Queensland to be exact) there is art everywhere, on the streets, the parks, in the library, there was a great gallery and markets with many artists and they organize so many creative activities. I guess that it is not that different from many other places in the world, but this time this place really opened my eyes for what is possible. I got so inspired, I started with zentangle and I met a colleague kids yoga teacher who happened to sell products from Kelly Rae Roberts. I looked KRR up, loved her work and when we got home I enrolled in her course ‘Spirit Wings – An Angel Painting Course to Inspire and Manifest Your Dreams’.
Through this course I discovered that I really love to paint and that I love to combine my passion of mindful healthy heartful living with my new passion painting.

And now I am at a point in my life that I believe that my voice is worth sharing. That I need to share my voice, my journey, my challenges in life, my inspiration, for my own sake and for others, for you. I believe that my art is worth sharing and that I can inspire others by sharing my process and the images I create.

The latest image I created deals with this letting go and shining your own unique light into the world. I tend to want to hold on to everything, want to control and I build up a lot of tension in my body. Yoga and meditation help me to let go and this painting inspires me and reminds me. Right now I need to let go of my comparing myself to others. Because I know that I have my own unique way, my own path, my own light to shine and when I make contact with that light, act from that light, I can fly!

What do you think of with this theme ‘letting go’?
What do you need to let go of to be able to fly and shine?
I would love to hear from you!

Eefja, I am so happy for your first blog!!! Congratulations! I am from Alberta, Canada and would love to have a art blog as well. So you inspire me. I am older than you and on April 15th, I am retiring from my drafting job and I intend to be a full time artist. I love your art, I know you will do great!

Your courage, your dedication is quite admirable. I’m just beginning my journey. As someone who is homebound, I have turned to art as therapy as well. I have been in the Spirit Wings class with you, but your latest creation of “Letting Go” really resonates with me. I have much to let go of.
More than anything, I wish you much success. Dream big! Reach far and wide,,the universe is waiting… Xoxo love this painting so very much, I wonder if it will go to auction???

      Dear Tara,

thank you so much for your comment! I can feel your warmth in my heart!
All my paintings are bits of my soul and I always need some time to detach from them, but eventually I will let go and this painting too will be for sale, because I really want to share my pieces with people like you!
